The IUCN Species Survival Commission (SSC) Leaders’ Meeting concluded in Abu Dhabi with a powerful declaration emphasizing that “Saving Species Sustains Life.” Over 300 conservation experts gathered to call for urgent action to protect biodiversity, stabilize the climate, and ensure human well-being. The declaration urges governments, businesses, Indigenous communities, and individuals to prioritize species conservation, recognizing its critical role in providing clean water, food security, economic stability, and social justice.
The Center for Species Survival Nigeria, Africa’s first Center for Species Survival (CSS), attended the CSS meeting on 24th October 2024 and the subsequent SSC Leaders’ Meeting, which concluded on 28th October 2024. The Center joined in the call for urgent action to save species, recognizing it as an integral part of protecting nature.
